Please join us Tonight April 25th @ 7:00pm as we dive into Excelsior's Treasure Chest of Talent. We have a night of Singing, Dancing, Drumming & Comedy. We have headliners Adam Graff, Tracy Osbourne, Jesse Morelock, Joseph Boyd, Josh Miranda and more. Admission is $5.00 per person. Pizza and beverages will available for sale. Also The Dodgeball Tournament on May 9th still has a few spots open. All interested students need to turn in $4.00 and permission slip by May 2nd. Attention Excelsior Senior Students & Parents If you ordered announcements & other graduation items besides cap & gown, they will be delivered to the school @ 1:00 on Wednesday April 16. The graduation tickets will be released on April 24 after the Mandatory panoramic picture @ 11:30am. Prom is almost sold out - we have less than 30 tickets available - hurry to room 14 to get yours today. The cap & gowns will be delivered at graduation practice. The In-n-Out truck scheduled for this Friday will not be on campus, however ASB will be selling pizza at lunchtime. There will not be an assembly bell schedule on Friday April 4th. The deadline for MESH Juniors & Seniors to receive their free or discounted Prom or grad nite tickets has been extended to April 11. After this deadline MESH students will have to pay the current ticket price. There will be no exceptions. ASB is sponsoring a Talent show on Friday April 25 @ 7:00pm. We are looking for all the talent we can get .. so if you think you can dance or sing or even lip sync, play an instrument, juggle, tell a joke come to the tryouts in room 10 on April 17 & 18. Tryouts will be held throughout the day - but students are encouraged to call DeAnna@ ext 243 to make an appointment. Stay tuned for more info! The Magic Mountain MESH TRIP scheduled for this thursday April 3rd is still open. The bus will leave at 8:00am and return at 8:00pm. The Carls Jr lunch truck will not be on campus as scheduled Friday March 7th, however the varsity girls softball team will be selling pizza and other items at lunch time. The Parent Eagle Network Book fair is on campus friday March 7th from 10am -2 pm and Tuesday March 11-14 10am- 2pm. Please support the parent group as all proceeds go to scholarships at the end of the year. The annual Mr. Eagle contest is on March 19th. 10 junior and senior boys are competing for the title King of Swing. This will be a great night filled with jumpin' jivin' & walin! Bring the family - ticket prices are $8.00 with ASB & $10.00 without. Call ext. 243 for more information. Juniors & Seniors should not miss the boat on Prom - ticket prices are now $77.00 and are going fast. The prom is being held at the queen mary - this will definitely be a night to remember. The second blood drive of the year is coming up very quickly - Thursday Feb.. 7th from 8am-2pm the San Bernardino County Blood Bank will be on campus. This event is open to the public so parent, friends and other family members are encouraged to attend. Students who are 16 years old need a permission slip which can be picked up in room 10. 17 and up do not need a permission slip. You do not need an appointment, but the appointments help ensure a swift process. To make appointment please call DeAnna @ ext. 243. The SweetHeart Dance tickets are now on sale in room 10. Ticket prices are $6.00 w/ASB $8.00 without and $10.00 at the door. The dance will be held on Thursday Feb.. 14 from 7-11pm in room 13. The Seniors are selling Crush for your Crush Valentines. The price varies based on the version you choose. Like em, is $2.00, Love em' is $3.50 and Gotta have em' is $5.00. You can also purchase crush insurance to keep your crush guessing. Come to room 10 to place an order and surprise that someone special. Baseball & Softball practices will begin on February 4th. Students interested in playing need to pick up paperwork from Tom in room 1. The baseball team will be practicing at the George Air Force Base fields and the Softball team will be practicing a the Spring Valley Lake Little League field on the college campus. Attention Excelsior Class of 2008 Students & Parents! Please listen to this very important message regarding senior activities and deadlines: Have you received your senior scoop in the mail? This is a very important newsletter with diploma, cap & gown, and graduation ceremony ticket information. The scoop was sent by certified mail, so someone needs to sign for the letter. If you have not received yours, please log on to www.excelsior.com ASAP, there is very time sensitive information in this month's scoop that needs to be returned by January 25th. Do you need cash for college? Please join us this Thursday @ 6:30pm for an in-depth look at financial aid options for college. This night will answer questions and provide a step by step help session to fill out the Federal Financial Aid application. Following the financial aid information we will do a reality check with students to show you just how important it is that you have plans for life after high school. To RSVP, please call DeAnna ext. 243. February 1st is the deadline to order your cap & gown for the graduation ceremony. That is only 10 days away! This week marks the second week of our Pennies for Patients drive. There are containers with the class labels in the front lobby. The goal this year is to raise $1200.00. Students can earn service learning credit by adopting a collection box, decorating and placing it in a place of business. The adopting student would be responsible for emptying the box and bringing the monies to school. We will collect money until February 5th. Remember pennies are positive points & silver and bills are negative points. The Class with the most points wins a pizza party during their class meeting on February 8th. This week is Spirit week – Tuesday was Pajama Day, Tomorrow is Pirates vs. Ninja day – choose wisely, Thursday is Bubble Wrap & Duct Tape day and Friday is Beauty & The Geek Day – again choose wisely. The assembly bell schedule for January 25 has been postponed to February 1st so that we can include the track & field team in the Winter sports Pep Rally. January 25 is the first Mr. Eagle Pageant Information meeting. Two meetings will be held for students that cannot make one or the other; 1:30 & 5:00. Any students interested in participating or competing in this event need to come to room 10. The Theme is “The King of Swing”! FYI – The Date of the event has been changed to March 19th due to venue availability. This pageant is open to all Junior & Senior Boys. Saturday the 26th is the Winter Formal – Tickets are now on sale in room 10. The price is 13.00 w/ASB/Mesh or $15.00 w/o ASB Mesh. The sophomore class is working hard to make this a fun event, SOS will be our DJ so be prepared to dance all night long! There will be a Track & Field information meeting held on Wednesday January 23rd at 5:30pm in room 13. Immediately following that meeting, there will be a Cross Country fundraiser meeting at 6:15pm on Wednesday January 23rd. The Clippers Field Trip date has been changed to Tuesday Jan. 15th. The price of this field trip is Free for diamond MESH, $5 for Platinum, $10 for gold, $15 for silver $20 for ASB cardholders and $25 for all other students. Tickets and permission slips can be obtained in room 10. Please join us this Thursday for Cheesy Sci-Fi movie night starting at 6:00pm. Ticket prices are $4.00 w/asb card, $6.00 w/o asb card and $8.00 at the door. Ticket includes, a slice of pizza, a soda and popcorn. This event is open to excelsior family and friends. Friday January 11th will be an assembly bell schedule - class meetings will be held during this time. Tomorrow is Opposite Sex Day, come dressed as your best version of the opposite sex, thursday is Traffic Light day & friday is true blue day. Is your car looking a little dirty? Let ASB help. Every thursday we will be holding a car wash from 11am-2pm. The price is $5.00 for an outside wash only, $8.00 for wash & Vacuum & $10.00 for the works. Have you heard about the Friday Dollar Dances? Starting this Friday - ASB is hosting a Dance every Friday during lunch From 1:25-1:55. The admission price is $1.00 for all students. This is only open to Excelsior Students. The Unit 3 A & B testing window has been extended to Monday Nov. 5th. Please make sure your student takes his or her test by this date. There will be NO assembly bell schedule Tuesday October 30th. The guest speaker has been postponed to a later date to be announced. Please do not miss our 10th Annual Harvest Festival Tomorrow, Tuesday October 30th from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Please bring your family and friends. We have many opportunities to have a blast. There is something for everyone. Food, games, bounce house, fortune telling, jousting, giant bounce twister, face painting and a Haunted maze! This is also our kick off night for the Thanksgiving Food Drive - so make it a night to give by bring a few canned food items and receive a ton of fun in return. We still have room for your famous recipe in our chili contest and or masterpiece in the carved pumpkin contest. Tickets for all the activities cost .25 each and booths vary in ticket price. The movie featured will Be a nightmare before christmas. Wednesday Herff Jones will be on campus to take cap, gown & graduation announcement orders from seniors as well as class rings orders from sophomores & juniors. This vendor does a great job and presents the rings at a ring ceremony in the early spring. Seniors need to order their cap & gowns as soon as possible - the deadline is fast approaching. The Saturday October 27 date for Herff Jones has been rescheduled to November 3rd from 12-2pm. Thursday is the Follow-up Powder Puff meeting in room 10 @ lunch-time. This meeting is to finalize the player and cheerleader lists. If you are interested in participating in Powder Puff, please contact the SAC @ ext 227. The deadline for reserving a spot is Weds, Oct. 24. Friday Oct. 26 from 6-10 join us for our 10th annual Harvest festival! There is something to do for the whole family. Attention ALL high school students of Excelsior Education Center: The field trip scheduled for Tuesday, October 9th to the Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific has now been opened to ALL students in ninth through 12th grades. Permission slips are available in Room 6. First come, first served so make sure to get those permission slips turned in so that a space will be reserved just for you. Admission is covered by Excelsior. Bring your own lunch and souvenir money. The bus will leave the Excelsior campus in Victorville at 7:30 a.m. and is expected to return by 6 p.m. Thank you. | Wow! What a deal! Angels Baseball for FREE! Yes - you heard me - FREE. The Angels baseball game field trip scheduled for tomorrow Weds Sept. 19th is now free to the first 35 students who turn in their permission slips to the student Activities Center. Permission slips must be turned in by 9:30 am tomorrow. The bus will leave tomorrow at 10:00 am and return at approximately 5:30pm. Students can download a permission slip from the forms and downloads page located on the Learning resources menu on the Student and parents section of www.excelsior.com Students who have already turned in their permission slips have a guaranteed seat and their money will be refunded. There will be a nutshell math workshop on Tuesday September 18 and Thursday September 20. Students and parents should go to room 24 to get a quick review on how to use the Nutshell Math program. Attention Students and Parents, Hot dog on a stick will be on campus during lunch on Fri Sept. 14th. Each Combo includes 2 Stick items, chips and lemonade. The prices are: Diamond MESH free, platinum $2.50, gold $5.00, silver $7.50 and $10.00 for non-MESH students. Tickets can be purchased in the Student Activities Center on Friday. Attention Students and Parents! Tickets are now on sale for MESH Students only for Friday Sept 28th Knott's Scary Farm field trip. MESH students have until Friday September 14th to purchase their ticket, after September 14th ALL students pay the same amount. The prices are: Diamond - Free, Platinum - $10.00 and Gold and Silver $15.00. Students must turn in their permission slip to reserve their seat. After September 14th, the trip is open to non- MESH and MESH students for $20.00. All students have to ride the bus to the event and back, the bus will leave at 4:00 pm and return at approximately 3:00am on Sat morning. Tickets can be purchased in the Student Activities Center.
