DeAnna Crocker, M.ED.

Special education coordinator

DeAnna Crocker has been a proud member of the Excelsior community since 1996, dedicating her career to supporting students, families, and staff with compassion, clarity, and a strong sense of purpose. Her long history with Excelsior reflects her commitment to tradition, collaboration, and helping students grow into confident, capable young adults.

As Special Education Coordinator, DeAnna focuses on building cohesive systems that support students across all Excelsior sites. She believes deeply that every student deserves a champion — especially those who need the most from us. In her role, she works to strengthen communication, improve processes, and partner with teams so that students are at the center of every decision and families feel supported throughout their journey.

Excelsior Charter Schools provides students with disabilities a free appropriate public education. We are an independent study charter school with options for on-campus support. Excelsior provides an inclusion model in which all students are educated in the general education environment to the greatest extent appropriate for each student's individual needs. Excelsior offers all services outlined in a student's Individualized Education Program (IEP), including but not limited to: specialized academic instruction, speech therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, counseling, and college/career awareness. Excelsior provides these services either in-house or contracted with a nonpublic agency.

Child Find is a critical component of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). It ensures that all children with disabilities, regardless of their severity, receive a free and appropriate public education (FAPE).
